2019 is a year that will be a boon to sports lovers. This year will witness one of the most eagerly awaited sporting tournaments and events. Here is a look at a few of them.
World Table Tennis Championship – Table Tennis
The World Championship for Table Tennis will be held from April 21 – April 28, 2019, in Budapest, Hungary. It has long been dominated by the Chinese. It would be interesting to understand whether the Chinese will be the dominant force this year too.
World Cup – Cricket
The ICC World Cup for Cricket will be held in England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July 2019. 10 teams will participate in this tournament. While Australia is the defending champion, there are quite a few other favourites for the title.
FIFA Women’s World Cup – Football
The FIFA women’s football World Cup will be held between 7 June and 7 July in France. 24 teams will play for the coveted trophy. The United States of America is the defending champion.
European Games – Multisport
The 2019 European Games, a sporting event contested by sportspersons of European nations, will be held in Minsk, Belarus from 21 June to 30 June.
World Cup – Rugby
The 2019 Rugby World Cup will be held in Japan from 20 September to 2 November. 20 nations from across the world will participate in this event.
