If you are a cake lover, this is just the dream news for you!
In an extraordinary confectionery treat, around 1,500 bakers from the South Indian state of Kerala came in together to create the world’s longest cake! And how long was it? A massive 6.5 kilometres (4 miles) long!!
The chefs and bakers spent four hours assembling the cake in Thrissur, a city in Kerala. It was put together using 12,000 kgs of sugar and flour. The bakers spread chocolate ganache on the cake, which was spread on thousands of tables put together in a serpentine fashion.
The vanilla cake, which was 4 inches thick and wide, weighed a mammoth 27,000 kgs or 59,500 pounds.
The event was organized by the Bakers Association Kerala and thousands of people watched on as the bakers assembled the cake.
“This is an effort to showcase our skills to the world. We ensured hygiene and taste are up to the mark,” Naushad, the group’s secretary-general, told AFP.
This gigantic cake surpassed the record created earlier by Chinese bakers who made a 3.2 kilometre long fruit cake in Zixi county in 2018.
The Guinness World Record acknowledged the record, congratulating the Bakers Association Kerala for achieving this unique feat.
