KFC, the popular fast-food brand, has collaborated with vegan food maker, Beyond Meat to run a trial on plant-based chicken.
In a press release, the company announced that The Cobb Parkway store in Atlanta will launch the ‘Beyond Fried Chicken’ boneless wings and nuggets. Customers will receive a free sample when they purchase any item at the store.
It’s Kentucky Fried Chicken but it’s made with @BeyondMeat. It’s confusing, but it’s also delicious. Feast on these Kentucky Fried miracles tomorrow while they last at KFC in Atlanta, Georgia. pic.twitter.com/lC5oYM1cmk

Subsequently, it would look at feedback from customers to analyze whether this option must be rolled across all its stores in the United States.
According to Forbes, the boneless wings will be priced at $6 for six wings and $12 for twelve wings. The six-nugget combo meal with a side and a medium drink will cost customers $6.49.
KFC, along with many other fast-food chains, is looking to introduce and experiment with plant-based food. For instance, Burger King earlier introduced a plant-based Whopper burger. Meanwhile, Subway also announced its plans to test plant-based meatballs whereas Carl’s Jr. also sells meatless burgers.
While many other chains have explored plant-based beef options, KFC is the first chain to launch plant-based chicken.
A multitude of factors is making most food chains turn towards plant-based food. While many customers are wanting to eat healthily, some others are just concerned about animal welfare. According to sources, plant-based food sales have seen a massive jump of 31% in the last two years.0
