The video of a 11-year-old boy Anthony Mmesoma Madu from Nigeria dancing in the rain is going viral for all the right reasons!

Breaking all gender stereotypes, Anthony is seen doing ballet in the rain barefoot in the video, and his elegant pirouettes are a sight to watch.

Anthony is one of the 12 students at the Leap of Dance Academy in Lagos, Nigeria’s most populous city. The academy was founded in September 2017 by Daniel Ajala Owoseni who has been been teaching ballet for free without a dance space since then. And he is all praise for his student, whom he says has been very committed and focused right from the start.

“We are changing the narrative about the stereotype of ballet male dancers,” said his mentor Daniel.

FACTS ABOUT OUR PROGRAM. Behind those fanciful in class beauty and costumes are lots and lots of backstage hard work. With very little or no resources our kids are training to be the best they can. This is not to bring down anyone but to show their high level of dedication and committments to our program. Who wouldn’t be proud of them? What teacher wouldn’t pray for students who shows/comes to class with so much desire to learn? Kids who are ready to dance with or without conditions. Imagine what more we could achieve if we have more?🙂 DMs for more information. #leapofdanceacademy #covid19 #donation #vocational #nigerianballetschool #travelingtutusincnigeria #danceacademy #danceeducation #weloveyou #growth #weloveourpartners #yeswecan #dancing #learning

So beautiful was Anthony’s dance that the video has gone viral on social media and has been shared by the likes of Oscar-winning Hollywood superstar Viola Davis and other celebrities. Since the video was shared by the Leap of Dance Academy, it has been viewed and shared by thousands of netizens across the globe.

“I love ballet because I love dancing,” says Anthony of his love for dance. And we can absolutely see this in the video.

And the power of social media has given some fantastic news for Anthony. Former Nigerian ballerina Fade Ogunro has offered to pay for his entire formal education anywhere in the world! Isn’t this just great news?

Have a look at the video of Anthony twirling gracefully and let us know your views in the comments section below.
