Emoji 13.0: Inclusive and gender-neutral emojis released

Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organization that chooses emojis for Apple and Android devices, released a list of 117 new emojis recently.

These new emojis are more inclusive and gender-neutral, bringing about much cheer to the online community.

They include the transgender flag, a gender-neutral Santa Claus, men in wedding dresses, women in tuxedos, bottle-feeding parents, and a host of other interesting new symbols. Animals such as a black cat, a bison, a mammoth, a seal, a beetle, a fly, a cockroach, a worm, a beaver, a polar bear, and a dodo are also included in the list as are food items such as an olive, tamales, a flatbread, a bell pepper, and a bubble tea.

A smiling face with a tear and a disguised face have also made the cut.  Further, the transgender symbol and the transgender flag are both included in the list. Every day items such as a teapot, a thong slipper, a log, a hut, a magic wand, a roller skate, a pickup truck, nesting dolls, a sewing needle, and a coin have all been added.

These new emojis are a part of Emoji 13.0 and will be available on phones in the latter half of 2020.
