The World Health Organization (WHO) and customer advocacy group Global Citizen have collaborated to bring a concert show called ‘One World: Together At Home.’

The show is a one-of-its-kind global broadcast event to celebrate the efforts of healthcare workers across the world that are at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus pandemic. Aiming to support the World Health Organization in its efforts to fight the COVID-19, the show also aims to raise awareness about social distancing and raise funds towards relief efforts. It will feature real experiences of healthcare workers such as doctors and nurses from around the world.

Curated in collaboration with famed Academy award performer Lady Gaga, the show will include performances and appearances by global celebrities such as Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Celine Dion, David and Victoria Beckham, Ellen DeGeneres, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan, and Stevie Wonder among many others.

It will be hosted by late-night talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert.

Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen, said “As we honor and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, ‘One World: Together At Home’ aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19. Through music, entertainment and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s.”

This event will be aired on Saturday, 18th April 2020 by various networks and social media channels across the world.

What is Global Citizen?

Headquartered in New York, Global Citizen is “a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030.” It works with various NGOs at the grass root level to bring about a positive change in the society.

We’d definitely be watching this concert to bring about some cheer in these otherwise morose times. How about you?
