Dog sits for weeks where owner died, gets new home

Stories of canine loyalty have been heard since times immemorial. But the dogged determination of a female dog that refused to leave, for nearly three months, the spot where its owner died in a car crash has taken the Chinese social media by storm. The dog braved the chill and rain of northern China’s Hohhot city during its ‘vigil’. After an animal charity’s bid to trace the deceased woman’s relatives failed, a man in the city came forward to give the dog a new home. Zhang Lei, who has adopted it, said “I was touched, no matter for whom the dog was waiting,” China News Service quoted Zhang as saying.
