Isn’t it often said that a dog is a man’s best friend?

Here is another story that reinforces this fact.

A devoted and loyal dog, Boncuk has spent six days outside a hospital in Turkey, waiting patiently for its owner to recover.

So, when Cemal Senturk, with whom Boncuk has spent 9 years, recently had to be hospitalized, the dedicated dog followed the ambulance to the Medical Park Hospital in the Black Sea city of Trabzon on 14 January. Since then, it made regular visits to the hospital in anticipation of seeing its owner.

The hospital staff informed Senturk’s family about his four-legged friend visiting him often, after which Boncuk was brought back home. However, it would manage to escape to return to the hospital to wait at the hospital gate.

Aynur Egeli, Senturk’s daughter, said that Boncuk was brought back home but would find its way back to the hospital soon enough.

A hospital security guard, Muhammet Akdeniz, told DHA: “She comes every day around 9am and waits until nightfall. She doesn’t go in.”

“When the door opens she pokes her head inside,” he added.

The hospital staff were so moved by Boncuk’s love for his master that they took care of him and fed him.

Senturk was finally discharged from the hospital after almost a week and this is when Boncuk was reunited with its companion.

“Cemal Senturk has been with Boncuk for nine years and he also stated that he missed her a lot during his stay at the hospital,” Murat Ercan, the hospital’s international patient center director, told CNN.

“After he was cleared to go out he met his dog at the hospital gate. Boncuk has behaved really sweet during the six days and has managed to capture the love and affection of the whole staff.”

“She’s very used to me. And I miss her too, constantly,” Senturk told DHA after beinf discharged from the hospital.
