In a welcome move for its employees, the e-commerce giant Amazon announced that it would disburse $500 million in holiday bonuses for its frontline employees working during the holiday season in the United States.

All full-time employees that pack and deliver goods from 1st December to 31st December will receive a one-time bonus of $300 whereas part-time employees will be rewarded $150.

“As we head into the peak of the holiday season, we want to share our appreciation through another special recognition bonus, totaling more than $500 million for our front-line employees. U.S,” Dave Clark, SVP of Amazon Worldwide Operations wrote in a blog post.

Emphasizing how Amazon has invested in its employees, he added, “Combined with other holiday pay incentives, in this quarter alone we are investing over $750 million in additional pay for our front-line hourly workforce, on top of our industry-leading $15 national minimum wage. This brings our total spent on special bonuses and incentives for our teams globally to over $2.5 billion in 2020, including a $500 million thank you bonus earlier this year.”

Earlier in June, Amazon had spent $500 million in one-time bonus payments to front-line employees and partners that had worked during the coronavirus pandemic.

Certainly, these employees deserve all the appreciation for putting in the hard work so that the festive season could be joyful for the rest of us! Do you agree?
