Warren Buffett donates $3.6 billion to charity

One of the richest and most respected entrepreneurs in the world, Warren Buffett is also the biggest philanthropist in the modern world.

The Chairman and Chief of Berkshire Hathway – an American multinational conglomerate – has, in a recent announcement, pledged $3.6 billion to five charitable organizations that include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – the largest private charitable organization in the world. The other beneficiaries of his donation are the Susan Thompson Buffett organization, Sherwood Foundation, Howard G. Buffett organization, and NoVo foundation.

This is his biggest donation ever, exceeding the $3.4 billion that he gave away in the summer of 2018. With this donation, it is estimated that Buffett has given away a massive $38 billion in his lifetime.

Buffett is a huge proponent of philanthropy and has pledged to donate 99 per cent of his fortune to charitable organizations. Along with Bill and Melinda Gates, he has co-founded the Giving Pledge, an initiative that encourages billionaires to give away their fortunes to charity and philanthropy.
