Your domestic wise owl is here!

Ulo, the cute owl with a surveillance camera, was launched on Kickstarter for crowdfunding in 2015. Kickstarter is the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects.

Ulo has a large pair of eyes that are actually two large LCD screens that project different expressions to indicate different situations. For example, Ulo looks obliquely if someone is watching a live video feed. When the battery drowns below 10%, it looks drowsy. When you take a snapshot, it blinks cheekily. And guess what! It follows your moves like Monalisa’s eyes. We are swooning over it already! Ulo’s pupil, iris size, iris colour, and the eye reflection can be customized as per the preference of the owner. How cute is that!

On a serious note, Ulo also plays the role of your interactive camera. The camera is hidden behind Ulo’s beak, which is a two-way mirror. There is also a motion sensor hidden inside the beak, which is perched on the microphone. The owl comes with a charging socket and adhesive magnet to assist in sticking it to walls. It also stands perfectly all a flat surface.

The benefits don’t end there. It also has great battery back-up, along with voice control and facial recognition features. It also doubles up as a pet camera that keeps a watch on your pets during your absence in the house and sends you emails about the same.

Looks like Ulo will give video calling apps a run for their money as it allows live streaming of videos through Android or iOS apps too.

As they say, small things can cast big shadows. Don’t underestimate the power of this cute security guard!
