But the list of releases 2019 has lined up will be an instant cure for your nostalgia. Besides, there are quite a few flicks whose trailers have already notched up millions of views. 1. Glass

Release Date: January 18

This Bruce Wills thriller M. Night Shyamalan directs is a sequel to Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016) together forming the Unbreakable series. In this flick, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard return to their Unbreakable roles, and James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy join them after their Split performances. And, expect all the psychic suspense and paranormal anxieties one typically associates with a Shyamalan movie.

2. The Lego Movie 2

Release Date: February 8

This is a direct sequel to The Lego Movie (2014) and the fourth of the franchise including the 2017 spin-offs, The Lego Batman Movie, and The Lego Ninjago Movie. The film that Mike Mitchell directs has Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (writers and directors of the first film) back as producers and writers with Trish Gum directing the animation. The cute pair of Hiccup and Astrid, accompanied by the dragon, Toothless, are back on the screen for the final hurray with the last edition of the franchise. In fact, this animation movie’s release, originally scheduled for March 1, has been advanced to February 22. But the trailer, already available online, has got an awesome welcome. We have an adult Hiccup. And the perpetual loner Toothless seems to be finally getting a girlfriend! It’s fun all the way as Hiccup and Toothless travel to a world that they had thought was mythical but turns out to be real. It’s written and directed by Dean DeBlois. The familiar voices of Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, and Kit Harington await your ears.

4. Captain Marvel

Release Date: March 6

Finally, Marvel Comics comes up with a woman superhero as Captain Marvel. It’s Carol Danvers, an elite fighter jet pilot, who joins Starforce. And the film that Ryan Fleck directs has Brie Larson lending her voice to Danvers and the flick features the voices of Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, and Gemma Chan. The story is set in 1995 and follows Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel when a galactic conflict between two alien worlds buffets the Earth. 5. Avengers: Endgame

The final movie of the Avengers superhero franchise is a direct sequel to Infinity War. And it features a mighty Thanos who is up to no good. Apparently, he has already erased half the universe and is planning his next destructive adventure. In fact, the producers kept the title of the movie that Anthony Russo and Joe Russo direct a secret until recently, referring to it merely as Avengers 4.

6. Aladdin

Release Date: May 24

Summer of 2019 is going to be so much more fun with this movie’s magical, oriental flavour. In fact, the biggest attraction of this live-action film is Will Smith playing the Genie. And the musical romantic fantasy adventure film has Guy Ritchie as the director. True, it is an adaptation of Disney’s 1992 animated film of the same name. Mena Massoud plays Aladdin alongside Will Smith, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen, and Numan Acar. In fact, the shooting locales were Longcross Studios in Surrey, England, and Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan.

7. Toy Story 4

This is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 animation film of the same name. And the film features the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, the Pride Lands crown prince, and JD McCrary as a young Simba. Beyoncé Knowles lends her husky voice to Simba’s love interest Nala (Shahadi Wright Joseph as young Nala), and Seth Rogen is Pumbaa, the naïve common warthog who befriends Simba. Besides, Chiwetel Ejiofor makes Scar come alive while Billy Eichner is Timon, the wisecracking loyal meerkat. John Oliver gives voice to Zazu, the hornbill advisor to the King of the Pride Lands. James Earl Jones returns to give voice to Mufasa, the king of the Pride Lands and the father of Simba.

10. Star Wars: Episode IX

Release Date: December 20

Yes, the release date of this JJ Abrams-directed space opera is perhaps light years away in the future in December 2019. But any Star Wars episode is worth the wait, considering the legacy of the franchise. Importantly, this is the finale to the Star Wars sequel trilogy (the predecessors being The Force Awakens in 2015, and The Last Jedi in 2017 and the final instalment of the main Star Wars franchise. Hold your breath, the movie is about to reveal the fate of Rey and Kylo Ren after the death of Luke Skywalker.
