All you Seinfeld fans out there, here is some awesome news for you!

Netflix announced recently it would be the exclusive global streaming home to Seinfeld, one of the most loved and popular sitcoms of all time. The show was streaming on Hulu since 2015.

This deal will last a total of five years.

This is a huge win for Netflix that has lost the rights of two other very popular shows – The Office and Friends. Both these shows will now be aired on their original homes – HBO Max and NBCUniversal’s streaming service respectively.

While details of how much Netflix paid to host the show were not officially disclosed, sources say that the deal could have cost Netflix a massive $425 million.

“Seinfeld is the television comedy that all television comedy is measured against,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “We can’t wait to welcome Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer to their new global home on Netflix.”

Set in an apartment building in Manhattan’s Upper West Side in New York, Seinfeld was created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld. It originally aired from 1989 to 1998 and is about the daily life of four friends – Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine. Its masterful writing, the depth of each character, and the fact that one just can’t stop laughing at the jokes no matter how many times one sees it make this show a pure genius. Little wonder that the show has been consistently ranked among the best TV shows of all time.

We are super excited about this news! How about you?
