Ophiocordyceps sinensis also known as caterpillar fungus found only above 11,500 feets on Himalayas is believed to cure anything from cancer to impotency. The parasitic fungus is formed when the fungus attaches itself to a caterpillar eventually killing it. The fungus requires specific temperature and climate conditions to grow, where the temperature should be less than 0 degrees, but the soil should not be permanently frozen, normally such area is found at the margin of Himalayan Permafrost region. The fungus growth is dwindling at a rapid pace with increase in overall global winter temperature.
