Who says that the parliament is only for serious discussions regarding bills and laws?
Flavio Di Muro, an Italian lawmaker brought some love and romance to the Italian parliament.
The parliament was debating a post-earthquake reconstruction plan. At the end of his speech, Di Muro asked his colleagues to bear with him and held a small box that has an engagement ring.
“Elisa, will you marry me?” Di Muro asked his girlfriend Elisa De Leo, who was watching the debate from the gallery that is reserved for guests.
Interviene sull’ordine dei lavori e dice: “Elisa, mi vuoi sposare?”. Pare che la fortunata abbia risposti sì.

The proposal for marriage was received with much enthusiasm as MPs gathered around the 33-year-old Di Muro to embrace and congratulate him. Di Muro belongs to the far-right Lega Nord (Northern League) party.
Love did conquer all, at least for a day!
