In his 435th league game, Argentine football legend Lionel Messi scored his 400th La Liga goal. In the match held at Nou Camp, Barcelona beat Eibar 3-0.

This goal was Messi’s eighth strike for the club in the past five games. Messi, an all-time leading scorer in the Spanish top flight, created history with this landmark goal. Louis Suarez helped tee up Messi’s historic goal that came at the 53rd minute of the match.

Messi becomes the second player ever to score 400 goals across Europe’s top five club teams while his rival Cristiano Ronaldo was the first. Ronaldo reached the record in 507 games. Messi, however, proved his sheer genius by reaching that mark in just 435 games.
