While International Women’s Day is celebrated with much pomp and gaiety, not many are aware of International Men’s Day. This day is celebrated each year on 19th November and raises awareness on men’s issues that are overlooked. It focuses on men’s and boy’s health, which includes mental and physical health. It also aims to promote gender equality and strengthen gender relations.
According to its website, the International Men’s Day was founded by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a lecturer of history at the University of West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, in 1999 to commemorate his father’s birthday.
The theme of the 2018 International Men’s Day is ‘Positive Male Role Models.’
