The Indian multinational conglomerate, Tata Group is one of the most renowned, ethical, and respected organizations in India. Headquartered in Mumbai and founded in 1868, the company is into IT, hospitality, automobiles, and retail among others. However, the group has always been known for its philanthropic initiatives.

And in these difficult times, it has once again stood by its reputation of charity.

The Tata Trust, a charitable organization headed by famed entrepreneur Ratan Tata, has pledged INR 500 crore towards procuring medical equipment and setting up health facilities. To add to this, Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, has earmarked an additional INR 1,000 crore towards relief efforts.

In a post on social media, Ratan Tata said, “The current situation in India and across the world is of grave concern and needs immediate action… In this exceptionally difficult period, I believe that urgent emergency resources need to be deployed to cope with the needs of fighting the COVID-19 crisis, which is one of the toughest challenges the human race will face.”

Quite a few Indian philanthropists, business leaders, and celebrities have donated generously towards the relief efforts.

Meanwhile, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, has offered to convert the resorts of his company into temporary quarantine facilities. He also pledged to create a fund to support small business and the self-employed that might be adversely affected due to the coronavirus crisis.
