In a new regulatory filing on 15th March 2021, Tesla officially gave its Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk the title of ‘Technoking.’

Meanwhile, Zach Kirkhorn, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, has also been given a brand new title – ‘Master of Coin.’

Musk and Kirkhorn will also retain their original titles of CEO and CFO respectively.

While it is unclear what the new titles entail and what prompted them, they have certainly created quite a buzz in the business world.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 15th March, the electric car company said, “Effective as of March 15, 2021, the titles of Elon Musk and Zach Kirkhorn have changed to Technoking of Tesla and Master of Coin, respectively.

2020 was a stellar year for Musk, with Tesla’s shares surging over 600 per cent as the global market responded favorably to Musk’s vision of zero-emission vehicles dominating the globe. However, 2021 is not going as good: Tesla’s shares were down nearly 14 percent in the first two months. He also recently lost his title of the world’s richest man to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.

While this maverick entrepreneur has always broken the conventions, this idea seems pretty interesting. Only time will tell what these titles mean, and how they would impact Tesla’s future.
