Canadian couple Lindsay Clowes and Alex Leckie, both 29, had been together for over six years and planned to get married this year. However, the coronavirus pandemic sent their wedding plans haywire.

Travel restrictions due to the pandemic would restrict their family and friends from the United States from coming in for their wedding. And, like every other couple, they wanted their loved ones to be there and enjoy the biggest day of their lives.

They thought that the best way out was to just postpone the wedding and the original date of their wedding came and went. Soon enough, though, they decided that they did not want to wait any longer. And Clowes came up with an interesting idea of getting married at the border of Canada and the United States so that their loved ones from both the countries could attend their wedding.

So, on 10th October this year, they exchanged nuptial vows on a pier along the St. Croix River in New Brunswick in Canada surrounded by loved ones. To ensure social distancing, there were just 50 people at the location.

But there were others that were watching them tie the knot. Across the river in Calais, Maine in the United States, their friends and family watched getting married!

But that’s not all!

The Clowes’ grandparents watched the entire ceremony on a boat in the middle of the river that separated the two countries, thus keeping a safe distance.

“It couldn’t have gone any better. I wouldn’t change anything about it,” Clowes told CNN. “It turned out to be a lot more special than anything else we could have done.”

“I had this idea in the back of my head I always called Plan B to get married on the river so family can join us by boat and the other side of the river,” Clowes said. “I called my parents and I said, ‘I have this idea, what do you think?’ And they loved it and really helped us bring that vision to life so we were able to plan it and have the wedding within six weeks.”

This definitely looks like a dream wedding, doesn’t it?
