Cardi B becomes first solo woman to win Grammy for Best Rap Album

Cardi B became the first solo woman to win the winner’s trophy for a rap album in the 20 plus year history of Grammy awards. She won it for her debut ‘Invasion of Privacy.’ The Bronx-born rapper became the first solo female rapper to achieve this feat after Lauryn Hill won as a member of the hip-hop group Fugees in 1997.

Cardi B was a vision when she performed her new single ‘Money’ dressed in a vintage couture gown at the ceremony. She was extremely emotional in her award acceptance speech, moments after cheering up the crowd with her spirited performance. The trophy was really special as the competition was tough between Cardi and her fellow nominees like Nipsey Hussle, Pusha T, Travis Scott, and the late Mac Miller.

In her glorious moment of victory, Cardi had her husband by her side. A teary Cardi said, “The nerves are so bad. Maybe I need to start smoking weed.” She further added, ” I just want to say thank you to everybody that was involved.”

Cardi spoke about her fears around her pregnancy when the album was halfway complete. She could not help but thank her daughter who was born shortly after finishing the album.

That is not all, Cardi B was nominated for seven awards covering major categories, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for her chartbuster “I Like It.”
