More about Sundar Pichai…

Pichai was born in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu in a typical middle-class Indian family. Pichai’s childhood was humble: his family lived in a two-bedroom flat and did not possess a car or a TV. In an interview with the New York Times, he confessed his immense love for reading. “I read whatever I could get my hands on,” he said.

He pursued his engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering. It was here that he met his wife, Anjali.

He then moved to the United States to pursue his higher education. He pursued a Masters from Stanford and, subsequently, an MBA from Wharton School of Business. He also enjoyed a stint in McKinsey & Company post his education.

He joined Google in 2004 and rose to fame soon after. He was part of the Chrome web browser project, which was a huge success. With this success came more responsibility for Pichai. In 2013, he headed the Android mobile operating system division at Google and was announced the CEO in 2015.

Apart from his astute knowledge of technology, Pichai is also known to be soft-spoken, humble, and extremely passionate.

We wish Pichai the best of luck in his new role. Will he lead Alphabet to newer heights? Only time will tell!
