Bridal Boutique Wins Hearts with Its Wheelchair Mannequin Display

A bridal boutique in England has won hearts with its inclusive display. The White Collection in Portishead, near Bristol, put up a mannequin in wheelchair in its display window. Little did they know that it would soon become quite a hit amongst people.

The display first came into limelight when it was noticed by artist Beth Wilson, who herself uses a wheelchair. Her tweet about the beautiful display soon went viral and catapulted the boutique and the dress to fame.

Since then, it has garnered a lot of love and appreciation from people far and wide. And it has been going viral on social media as well. The fact that the boutique owners not only displayed the dress but also took pains to decorate the wheelchair, has gone down really well too.

The White Collection’s owners are truly stunned at the positive response they have been getting for their display. They did not think it would become so popular when they had put it up.

“When setting up this window display, we didn’t even think to share on our social media pages or ‘put it out there’ but it seems to have done just that all by itself!” they wrote in their post on Instagram.

Window displays featuring wheelchairs are quite rare. Hence it is understandable why this beautiful dress in a wheelchair elicited such a response. For those with disability, this display made them feel represented.

Here’s hoping that in future such displays of inclusivity become a common sight. What are your views on it? Do let us know in comments below.
