Palm Fountain breaks record for largest fountain in the world

The Palm Fountain, located in The Pointe shopping and dining district on the man-made palm shaped island of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, broke the Guinness World Record for the largest fountain in the world.

Inaugurated on 22nd October this year, this fountain is a massive 7,327 square meters in area and has pushed the fountain at the Dubai Mall to the second place in terms of being the largest in the world.

Spread over 14,000 square feet of sea water, this fountain is the only multicoloured one in Dubai and has been designed with a wide range of colour and brightness controls. It consists of 128 super shooters reaching up to a height of 105 metres. The spectacular fountain is adorned with over 3,000 LED lights and will be open to visitors all through the year.

20 shows with five different performances will be performed from 7pm to 12 midnight each day. Each show will last for 3 minutes and will be performed every half hour, with the water jets swaying to a diverse variety of songs such as pop, international, Khaleeji, and classic. The launch event of the fountain saw an array of performances and fireworks and was open to the public free of cost. Also, the first 5,000 spectators were provided with a special LED wristband, which made the entire event more resplendent.

The Palm Fountain will only add to the already breathtaking landmarks in Dubai, which include the tallest building in the world – The Burj Khalifa and the high end hotel Burj Al Arab.
