Here are Lonely Planet’s top 10 cities to visit in 2020

Lonely Planet, the world’s leading travel expert, has released its list of the top cities to visit in 2020.

And there is a great mix of cities on the list, some well-known and some hidden gems.

Topping the list is Salzburg, the fourth-largest city in Austria. It is home to beautiful Romanesque and Gothic churches and the centre of the city of Salzburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Did you know that it is also the birthplace of one of the most respected and renowned composers of the 18th century, Mozart.

Washington D.C in the United States and the beautiful city of Cairo in Egypt were second and third in the list respectively.

Another city from the United States – Denver was in the top 10 at the tenth spot.

There were quite a few cities from Europe on the list: Galway in Ireland and Bonn in Germany were on fourth and fifth spot respectively. India was represented by Kochi, a major port city on the south-west coast of India.
