29th September is observed as ‘World Heart Day’ by the World Health Organization. This day seeks to spread awareness about the importance of cardiovascular health and how it can be improved.

The human heart is a very intriguing and mystifying organ. It begins beating around four to six weeks after conception and continues to do so till death. It never stops along the way! Even when we are resting or sleeping, the heart is still working.

Isn’t it important, then, that we take good care of its health?

According to various studies, health attacks and strokes contribute towards 31 per cent of the deaths that occur worldwide. However, most of these deaths are preventable.

Further, 1.1 billion adults across the world have elevated blood pressure and less than 1 in 5 have it under control. Aren’t these statistics appalling?

It’s #WorldHeartDay today!

Know the symptoms of heart attacks and strokes 💔. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, seek medical care immediately.

Let’s #BeatNCDs!

The good news is that there are a few simple steps that all of us can take to improve the health of our hearts. Here are a few:

  1. Eat a good amount of vegetables and fruits
  2. Spend less time sitting and exercise regularly
  3. Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol
  4. Avoid the use of tobacco
  5. Eat less salt
  6. If diagnosed with high blood pressure, take your medicines regularly
  7. Do not stress over things. Rather, laugh away all your problems

Aren’t these very little changes? They might have a massive impact on your cardiovascular health. Also, encourage your near and dear ones to follow healthy habits.

Wishing all of you a very happy and healthy heart!
