Do you wake up with back pain or a headache early in the morning? Does your body become too stiff that you are not able to move your arms? If your answer is yes, then you must change your sleeping position right away.

Improper sleep postures may result in adverse cardiovascular, emotional, and psychological effects. For example, people find it convenient to sleep on their stomach; however, this position has serious repercussions on health. Sleeping on your stomach results in respiratory and spinal problems. As the position puts unnecessary pressure on your front body, your heart rate increases and you find it hard to breathe. Because of all these issues, you wake up feeling sleep deprived and having a bad mood.

According to experts, the ideal sleeping position is sleeping on your side.

Side sleeping position is an ideal sleeping position as it helps prevent stress and keeps the spine straight. If you are suffering from sleep apnea, a sleeping disorder in which breathing repeatedly starts and stops, then side sleeping is beneficial for you as it keeps the airways open. This position is good for pregnant ladies too as it keeps pressure off your belly.

Dr Hayden, a Georgia-based chiropractor, advises keeping a pillow under your torso for better sleep. Also, according to experts, your head must not rest on layers of pillows; rather, it should be at mattress level. An ideal person head weighs between 13 to 15 pounds, and if our head resting on multiple pillows, there are chances to develop stress points along the neckline. Further, your mattress also plays an important role if you want a sound sleep. Do remember that the mattress must be firm enough to support your body.

If you take care of these few things, you will wake up feeling all relaxed, rejuvenated, and peaceful. With the best sleeping position, a comfortable pillow, and appropriate alignment, you will wake up pain-free in future, all set to begin a great new day.
