A man born deaf adopts a deaf puppy and teaches him the sign language. Sounds interesting? Read on to find out the amazing story.

Nick Abbott, a 31-year old deaf man from Maine in the northeastern United States saw a Facebook post about a little puppy from NFR Maine, a foster-based dog rescue. After knowing that the puppy is also deaf, he went ahead with the adoption without giving a second thought. He named the canine ‘Emerson.’

Emerson, unfortunately, had a rough life. At 6 weeks, Emerson was rescued from Florida, where he was infected with a dog affecting virus, canine parvovirus that can prove to be lethal if not treated well. “When we bought him home, he had a hearing problem, though I am unsure he lost his hearing later in his life or he was born deaf,” said Lindsay Powers of NFR Maine.

Lindsay Powers then shared a Facebook post in the hope of finding Emerson a foster home. After a few weeks, the team received an application from Abbott. “Emerson had such a rough start in life but now I am happy that he had an absolute fairy tale ending,” said Powers.

To my dog – I will never move and not take you with me. I will never put you in a shelter and leave. I will never let you starve. I will never let you hurt. I will never desert you when you get old. I love you, you are family 🤟🏻 #labsofinstagram #adoptdontshop #deafcommunity #bestfriends #twodeafboys #specialbond #happyboys #happydog #blacklabpuppy #kisses

Soon, Abbott and Emerson met each other and hit it off. “Nick has been teaching Emerson sign language to sit and lay down,” said Richelle Abbott, Nick Abbott’s mom. “Whenever Nick reaches for his ear lobe, Emerson barks,” she added.

It seems like Abbott and Emerson are made for each other. Did you like this inspiring and heart-touching story? Share your views with us.
