How do you cope with all the negative news around Covid-19? It’s omnipresent and all engulfing! Working from home, I am honestly finding it difficult not to think about Coronavirus whenever I take a break. Do you too find yourself checking on the latest updates on Covid-19 whenever you pick your phone?

I realised that hogging negative news about Coronavirus isn’t healthy. I don’t have control on how this pans out, but I do have control on how I spend my time or the kind of content I consume while locked at home.

Motivated by making healthier content choices, I found this amazing series that TED recently launched called TED Connect. The beauty of this series is that it’s about all the good things that people are doing to fight back the Coronavirus. I would urge you to drop what you are doing and spend your weekend listening to video con-calls between Head of TED and the host, Chris Anderson and guests like Bill Gates, Co-founder of Microsoft, business leader and philanthropist; Seth Berkley, Epidemiologist and head of GAVI, the vaccine alliance; and many more!

Here are all the TED Connect sessions so far.

How to create meaningful connections while apart with Priya Parker, Author – The Art of Gathering & TED Speaker

While we are all working from home and away from our daily routine of going to office and meeting other folks, you may start feeling lonely. In one of my earlier zoom meetings with my team, one of my team members said – “I am feeling office-sick, the way one feels home-sick!”

So, how do you really stay connected and not let the lockdown erode the warmth of your friends and colleagues network?

Listen to this incredible conversation with Priya Parker:

The quest for the coronavirus vaccine with Seth Berkley, Epidemiologist and Head of GAVI

We are all wondering, when will this pandemic end? How will we get rid of this deadly disease? Will we be able to get back to our normal life? When can I go out and hang out with my friends without worrying about avoiding crowded areas, pubs, and cinemas?

The answer to all these questions depends on how soon we will have a vaccine for Coronavirus. Because it turns out, without a vaccine, the coronavirus is here to stay. Listen in to learn from the first hand experience of the man who is leading this effort globally.

“With clarity and urgency, he explains what makes it so challenging to develop, when we can expect it to be rolled out at scale and why we’ll need global collaboration to get it done.”

What the world can learn from China’s response to the coronavirus with Gary Liu, CEO of the South China Morning Post

Wuhan being the ground zero of Covid-19 pandemic, there is definitely a lot that can be learnt from how China responded to the pandemic. Whether you agree or disagree with the response, you’d appreciate that there are some lessons that we can all learn about dealing with crisis – small and big.

“Sharing insights into how the culture in places like Hong Kong and South Korea contributed to fast action against the virus, Liu identifies lessons people across the world can use to stop its spread.”

How we must respond to the coronavirus pandemic with Bill Gates, Co-chair of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

If you’ve watched the Netflix documentary on Bill Gates: Inside Bill’s Brain <decoding Bill Gates>, you’d know that Bill Gates is more than just a geek who founded Microsoft or a shrewd businessman. Through his philanthropic work at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill is doing all he can to improve the lives of people around the world.

He also has been a leading voice in rallying the world leaders towards getting better prepared for a global pandemic. Unfortunately, very few people took heed of his warnings.

Now he has a lot to say about how the world must respond to the current pandemic.

“Philanthropist and Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates offers insights into the COVID-19 pandemic, discussing why testing and self-isolation are essential, which medical advancements show promise and what it will take for the world to endure this crisis.”

How to be your best self in times of crisis with Susan David, Ph.D., Founder & Co-director, Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital of Harvard Medical School

Most often, crisis bring out the worst in us. As humans, we are wired to react in self interest and “fight or flight” a situation of threat and crisis. We are currently in such a situation with the Covid-19 pandemic plaguing the world. How do you then stay the best of yourself?

Listen in to this wonderful discussion with Susan David and learn!

“In a special virtual conversation, she shares wisdom on how to build resilience, courage and joy in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Responding to listeners’ questions from across the globe, she offers ways to talk to your children about their emotions, keep focus during the crisis and help those working on the front lines.”

Have you listened to any of these TED Connect talks before? How did you like them? I am sure you would learn a great deal from these conversations and feel good about participating in some positive conversations around Coronavirus.
