TIME Releases List of 100 Most Influential People For 2019

TIME magazine released its list of 100 most influential people. And there are some expected ones and some surprises too!

The list has been divided into five categories – pioneers, artists, leaders, icons, and titans.

A few names in the pioneers category were Naomi Osaka, the reigning women’s singles tennis champion at the Australian Open and the U.S Open. She is also the first Asian to clinch the number one spot in the rankings by the Women’s Tennis Association. Canadian actress Sandra Oh also featured on the list under the same category.

Oscar winner for his magnificent portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the acclaimed movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ Rami Malek featured on the list in the artists category. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and singer Arianna Grande also featured on the list under the same category.

President of the United States of America, Donald Trump; Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Arden; Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan; teenage climate change activist, Greta Thunberg; Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu; President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro; and Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Salvini are some of the names that featured under the category of leaders.

Academy Award-winning singer, Lady Gaga; former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama; and American director, producer, and writer, Spike Lee featured on the list under the category of icons.

Chief of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg; the richest man in India, Mukesh Ambani; ace golfer, Tiger Woods; American professional basketball player widely considered the best ever in the world, LeBron James, and Egyptian footballer, Mohamed Salah were in the list under the category of titans.
