Bologna, a city in northern Italy and the seventh most populous city in the country, gives you free beer for cycling!

A new public transport system in the northern Italian city of Bologna rewards citizens for taking sustainable modes of transport. Rewards might be free beer, movie tickets, gift cards, and spa days.

In cities around the world, excessive traffic is a pressing problem. Vehicles cause air and noise pollution, which is detrimental to human health and the environment.

Bologna is no stranger to this problem. To take corrective action, it came up with a project called “Bella-Mosa,” which in the local language (Italian), means “Good Job.” The idea behind this project was that people move out of pollution-causing vehicles such as cars and mopeds and use cleaner and greener modes of transportation.
