On 22nd December, a massive tsunami struck Sunda Strait in Indonesia due to which more than 430 people lost their lives and many more are still missing and injured. This was followed by a harrowing week for officials and workers, who are still looking out for any lives that they can save. However, even in these moments of despair, the rescue workers have proved that all lives are invaluable as they have successfully rescued dozens of turtles that were washed up on the west coast of Banten. In searching for human bodies, they also encountered these turtles and they ensured that the turtles safely reach their homes.
The turtle species included green sea turtles, loggerhead sea turtles, and rare hawksbill turtles. Some of the turtles rescued were close to 180 kgs and required four men to carry them.
