Daughter’s Post on Facebook Draws 50,000 Birthday Cards for Father

Daughter's post on Facebook draws 50,000 birthday cards for father

When Sue Morse requested on the social media site Facebook that her friends send her father birthday greetings, little did she know that he would get SO MUCH LOVE!

Sue Morse’s father’s birthday was on 30th December. Like every daughter, Sue wanted to make the day special for her father – Duane Sherman, who is 96 and is a World War II veteran. So, she put up a plea on Facebook asking for friends to send across their birthday notes and greetings to her father. She was expecting around 150 of such greetings.

In stark contrast to her modest expectations, Mr Sherman received a whopping 50,000 cards and notes at his home in Fullerton, California! These have come from 10 countries across the world and from each of the 50 states in the United States. Apart from notes thanking him for his service, he has also received some unique gifts, which include an American flag that flew over Pearl Harbour, and a scaled model of a battleship.

Isn’t this a news that brightens your day? We at Newsum too wish Mr Sherman a happy and healthy life ahead!
