A video released by the Vietnamese Health Department to raise awareness about the prevention of the Coronavirus is going viral for all the right reasons.

The animated video, titled the ‘Jealous Coronavirus,’ talks about the outbreak of the disease, its epicenter, and its proliferation to other places in the world. Importantly, it explains the prevention methods of the virus, which include washing hands, avoiding public places, and not touching our eyes, mouth, and nose with our hands.

Music composer Khắc Hưng wrote the music and lyrics, and it is sung by popstars MIN and Erik. It is a remake of a popular old song; however, the lyrics has been changed.

The three-minute video has taken the world by storm: even a viral dance challenge on TikTok has appeared with people grooving to the dance. The dance was developed by Quang Dang in collaboration with the health ministry. The choreography is interesting and very educational: it demonstrates a six-step process to washing hands effectively.

In an interview with Billboard, Quang Dang, the dancer behind this challenge explained, “I wanted to use my own language, dance, to disseminate the right information for the fight against COVID-19, and this, to as many people as possible.”

Thousands of people across the world have, since, joined the challenge.

The text of the description of the original video says, “Through this project, we look forward to empowering and trusting the community so that we can join hands to fight against COVID-19.”

And the video is certainly doing so.

Have you heard the song yourself? Please do, and follow the instructions to wash your hands effectively!

Isn’t this a wonderful example of how music and dance can be used effectively to spread awareness about a pandemic? What do you think about the video? Do let us know your views in the comments section below.
