Britain Achieves Major Milestone As Half Of All Adults Get First Covid Vaccine Dose

Health Minister of Britain Matt Hancock confirmed that half of all adults in the Britain have received at least one doze of the COVID-19 vaccine as on 20th March 2021, making it the first major economy to reach this inspiring milestone.

This enviable landmark was achieved after Britain administered a record 660,276 shots a day earlier.

“The vaccine is a national success story and our way out of this pandemic,” said Hancock.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also confirmed the news by tweeting about it. “More than half the adult population of the UK have now received their first jab. Many thanks to everyone involved in this fantastic achievement. Let’s keep going!” he wrote.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had himself taken the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The government also confirmed that it intends to give at least one shot to all adults by the end of July.

In terms of vaccinating its citizens, Israel leads the pack – nearly 60 per cent of Israel’s roughly 9 million residents have received at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine. The Middle Eastern nation is followed by the United Arab Emirates and Chile. With this remarkable achievement, the United Kingdom now is on number four.
