Iconic golf player Tiger Woods, unfortunately, met with a serious car accident last week that resulted in him suffering several injuries and undergoing extensive emergency surgery. He is still recovering at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Southern California.
However, the entire golfing fraternity rallied behind the 45-year-old golfer: several golfers wore Woods’ trademark red shirt and black pants for the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship to show their support for him. Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Thomas, and Cameron Champ, were just a few of the golfers who wore Woods’ signature outfit.
Golfers at the Gainbridge LPGA on 28th February 2021, including Annika Sorenstam, also wore red and black in support of Woods.
Tony Finau made one grand entrance, wearing a red mock-neck golf shirt, black pants and his Nike hat backward — the typical manner in which Woods often arrives at tournaments.
“I was pretty inspired,” Finau said. “I heard earlier quite a few guys were going to do it. I for sure felt like it would just be a nice touch. We’ve enjoyed so many Sundays watching Tiger do his thing. Red and black, that’s what Tiger does on Sundays, so to just join in and just let Tiger know we’re supporting him in the best way we can. We’re still playing as we miss him out here, but it was just cool to be part of that today.”
Bryson DeChambeau and Matt Kuchar each also used a Bridgestone golf ball with Tiger’s name stamped on the side to pay their tributes to the injured golfer.
Meanwhile, PGA Tour Communications tweeted a picture on 28th February, Sunday of maintenance staff at the Puerto Rico Open wearing red and black to honor Woods.
