Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes won his sixth F1 World Championship by securing a second place at the United States Grand Prix on 3rd November 2019, becoming the second most successful F1 driver of all time. This was also Hamilton’s third consecutive title and fifth in six years: he has won the world championships earlier in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Only Micheal Schumacher, with seven championships, has won more titles than Hamilton. However, this record also looks well within Hamilton’s reach now, who seems unstoppable.

Also, in the current crop of drivers, only Sebastian Vettel, with four titles has won more titles than Hamilton.

Post the win, he said, “It’s just overwhelming,” he said. “It was such a tough race. Yesterday was a tough day. I really just wanted to recover and deliver the one-two. I didn’t think the one-stop was going to be possible. I am filled with so much emotion. It is an honour to be up there with those greats.”

Who is Lewis Hamilton?

Born on 7th January 1985, Lewis Hamilton is a British F1 racing driver and is widely considered one of the best drivers of all time. He won his first World Championship with McLaren in 2008 and then moved to Mercedes.

Do you think this 34-year-old prodigious driver will surpass the long-standing record of Micheal Schumacher? Do let us your views in the comments section below.
