In a rare event, two Oscars are going up for sale at an auction. The Oscars awarded for Best Picture category to the films ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ in 1936 and ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ in 1948 will go under the hammer in Los Angeles from December 11, according to an announcement by auction house, ‘Profiles in History.’ The Oscar for ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ is expected to fetch anywhere between $200,000 and $300,000, while the one for ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ is slated to sell for $150,000 to $200,000.

Sale of Oscars is a rare phenomenon due to a condition constituted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which directs the winners from 1951, or their heirs, to sell the Oscars first to the Academy for $1 before selling to anyone else.
