Avengers: Endgame has done the impossible and the inevitable. It has broken all possible box office records. Period.

The movie has become the first ever to open to a $1 billion worldwide collection in its opening weekend. This was bolstered by a whopping $859 million it earned across the world and a cool $350 million that it earned in the domestic market. It hit the $1 billion mark in a mere 5 days, breaking the record of its predecessor – Avengers: Infinity War – that achieved this feat in 11 days.

This superhero film by Marvel Studios, distributed by Walt Disney Studios, stars an ensemble cast of Robert Downey Jr., as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. It is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and is the culmination of the stories told in the previous 22 Marvel Studios films.

Apart from breaking records in the domestic market, the movie also made history in other countries such as China, France, and South Africa. According to reports, in China, people paid as much as a massive 500 yuan as the ticket price to watch the movie, much higher than the 60 yuan average price for other movie tickets. In the United States, the demand was such that AMC’s servers crashed and the website was down! Also, it opened to a record number of theatres in the United States and Canada – 4,662.

By all means, the movie surpassed its own gargantuan expectations.
