The American Music Awards (AMA) for 2020 were held on 22nd November at The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the show was held with the COVID-19 protocols in place, which included limited audience and testing for every person that enters the venue.
There were some stellar performances by artists such as Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, the Weeknd with Kenny G, BTS, Megan Thee Stallion, and Dua Lipa.
Roddy Ricch and The Weeknd were the top three most nominated artists with eight nominations each while Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Dan + Shay were the top winners with three awards each.
Taylor Swift, who won the coveted artist of the year award, broke her own records of maximum AMA wins (29) by moving up to 32. She also won favorite music video and favorite female artist (rock/pop) awards but couldn’t attend the ceremony in person because she was busy rerecording her early music catalog.
